Kuhl Corporation - A major manufacturer of Egg / Egg Tray Washers

Kuhl Corporation manufactures egg washers in capacities from 3,600 to 360,000 eggs per hour. Our continuous type washers convey eggs through a wash chamber, wherein the eggs are not submerged, but have a recirculated, filtered pressure spray wash. The wash water is heated to 110 deg. F and has an egg washing detergent added. When eggs are washed with water warmer than the egg, an inner membrane expands to seal the shell so that nothing can enter the shell. Immediately after the eggs leave the wash chamber, they are sanitized-rinsed. Up to 200 PPM egg sanitizer is injected by a metering device into clean, hot water not previously recirculated. This ensures a further shellborne bacteria reduction.

After the sanitizer rinse passes over the eggs, it goes to the water holding tank and helps sanitize the wash solution, while at the same time, causing an overflow (an exchange of water in less than one hour), establishing a semi-open system. The result is a clean, bacteria-free egg. The same procedures are used for all types of eggs. Eggs turn on rubber rollers while being spray washed, sanitized and dried. May be used separately or connected to egg graders or farm packers.

Kuhl Corporation manufactures egg tray washers in capacities from 1,000 to 18,000 trays per hour. They can be self-driven or connected to auto loaders. Whether the requirement is for a small single-row machine or a multiple row unit with inline spin dryers, cleaning and sanitizing is accomplished in the same fashion. Stacks of trays are denested so that each tray passes through the washer one at a time. This assures complete cleaning of both sides by top and bottom facing wash nozzles. The clean trays are then conveyed to the rinse section where an additional sanitizer can be applied.

These clean and sanitized trays are restacked and can be conveyed to an inline spin dryer for complete and automatic drying. Systems are available both inline or with a 180 degree return conveyor that delivers stacks of dried trays back to the operator who is loading the machine.
