Lohmann Tierzucht specialises in breeding and marketing parent stock of hybrid white egg and brown egg layers. Different strain crosses „bred in Germany“ are designed for a wide range of housing systems and market requirements.
All Strains have a long history of selection for:

The mainstream products LOHMANN LSL and LOHMANN BROWN are well established in most parts of the world because they are known for their efficient production of high quality white and brown eggs, respectively. LOHMANN LSL and LOHMANN BROWN hens adapt also well to non-cage systems and usually do not require beak trimming.
Layer for alternative housing systems are available:
All strains of Lohmann Tierzucht layers are suitable for alternative housing systems. Lohmann Tierzucht tests the performance of the layers using the "Weihenstephan Funnel Nest Box". The main recorded traits are the egg number and the nest acceptance.
New vaccine plant:
Lohmann Tierzucht build a new vaccine plant in 2008. This plant receives in 2009 the GMP status. The GMP status allows not only the production of flock specific vaccines according to the highest quality standards but also the production of approved vaccines.
VALO: Now p-27-proof eggs are available:
VALO developed a new product. This special product, named p-27-proof, are eggs, which do not lead to false positive results in PCR-testing for ALV (Avian Leukosis Virus).
Patent for the marker-assisted selection of hens:
The European patent office in Munich awarded Lohmann Tierzucht a patent for the marker-assisted selection of hens without "fishy odour", otherwise known as "TMA Syndrome". Therefore, valuable coarse rape meal can now, without a doubt, be used as a domestic protein carrier in the feed of Lohmann Brown laying hens.
