GEA 2H Water Technologies introduces new random media with larger surface for biofilters in Recirculation Aquaculture Systems

With its huge surface of 1180 m² per m³ the new random media offers a large biofilm surface in a small tank volume. A smaller volume of the moving bed biofilter means lower investigation costs.

Normal random media made of HDPE has a density of 0,95 to 0,98 g per cm³.
A lot of water movement including turbulences is normally needed to pull it back to the ground once it rose to the surface of the moving bed biofilter.

The density of the new PVC random media is 1,42 g per cm³. Heavier than the polluted water, it easily sinks back to the ground. By air bubbles of the aeration system it is easily lifted up to the surface so no energy is lost because of turbulences.

Thus this random media has an energy saving effect.
Their external diameter is approx 12 mm, the length is approx 10 mm and the colour may be white or black. It is packed in 1 or 3 m³ big bags.

GEA

Besides random media GEA 2H offers also structured media for fixed bed and trickling filter applications.

Agricultural Engineering:

In addition to the aquaculture business GEA 2H also offers products for agricultural engineering:
     • For Exhaust air cleansing the fills FKP 319, FKP 327 and KVP 323 are
characterized by a self supporting structure with high bearing
       capacity.
     • For air humidifying on poultry and pig farms 2H Humipacking® made of
polypropylene grants a long service life.
     • For blackout blinds (Lighttrap): The TAP 160 with flexible dimensions
and high dirt resistance, alternatively TEP 130 as structured media
