An average sized stable saves 1,000 – 2,000 Euro per year.

The Swedish company AquaGlobe has developed a new bite valve for pigs and cattle. With the patented design the animal has to take the whole valve into their mouth to release the water. This prevents the water from being spilled on the outside of the animal’s mouth. The trigger of the water is a stainless steel ball. The ball is rolling and cleans itself and it is also comfortable for the animals to bite on.

The bite ball valve is available in eight different sizes and covers the whole area of watering pigs and cattle, from the smallest piglets to the biggest breeding cattle.

The Swedish Institute of Agricultural Engineering (JTI) has made a study comparing the bite ball valve with the conventional type of bite valve. The study shows that that the water spillage was 1.6 l/animal and day with the bite ball valve and 2.7 l/animal and day with the conventional bite valves. The study shows that that the water spillage is 40% less with the bite ball valves than with conventional valves. The total water consumption was 6.2 and 8.5 l/animal and day with a difference of 2.3 l/animal and day.
