After an intensive tender procedure, MHP selected HatchTech, based on its efficient building concept (honeycomb setter tray + HatchTech CyCleanTM: 25 % more space efficient); its energy efficient heating and cooling system; its proven incubation concept of laminar airflow; and its expertise in building large scale turn key facilities.
Vinnytsya Hatchery: latest technologies for maximum chick quality
A team of technicians, incubation specialists and sales support managers have worked intensively on the MHP project. Commercial Director of HatchTech, Mr. Joost ter Heerdt: “MHP is a very professional company. Its selection process was extremely detailed and intense. HatchTech welcomed several of the MHP board members to the Netherlands and Germany. Aside from the evaluation of our hatchery equipment, MHP got acquainted with our technical team: for over 9 years HatchTech has worked with a team of 100 % Ukrainian technicians and Ukrainian sales support, servicing eastern Europe, Russia and Ukraine. A hatchery project of this size requires dedication, enthusiasm and respect from both the client as well as ourselves. We are happy working together with a respected company like MHP and proud to build the largest hatchery in the world.”
Myronivsky Hliboproduct
MHP was founded in 1998. The group primarily focuses on rearing chickens and on producing and selling high-quality chicken products. According to the State Committee on Statistics of Ukraine (SCSU), MHP accounts for approximately 42% (Sept. 2009) of all chicken commercially produced in the country. In each month, the group has the capacity to process more than 9 million chickens to produce about 27,500 tonnes of meat (Sept. 2009).
On the principle of “if you want something done well, do it yourself”, MHP grows its own grain to supply its fodder mills; produces feed for its two breeder farms and four chicken farms; undertakes the entire production cycle, from chicks to mature birds to finished product; using its own fleet of trucks; and sells many of its product through a network of franchised stores. MHP is the first Ukrainian agro-industrial company to be listed on the London Stock Exchange.
HatchTech and MHP: a project ‘unique in its kind’
The hatchery project of MHP is unique in its kind. Not only because of its impressive size, but also because of its intelligent engineering. The hatchery has been divided in one large processing area for eggs and chickens and three incubator and hatchery areas. Each area has its own ventilation supply. The ventilation units are equipped with a high efficiency filtering performance, categorized by the European Union as standard EU-7. HatchTech implements an Energy Heat Recovery system. This ensures that the heat from embryos is cooled down with the fresh air intake of the ventilation units. The robust and simple form of heat recovery is a proven concept in HatchTech ventilation, cooling & heating systems.
Additional to the filtered ventilation system, the hatchery bio-security level is of the highest level because of the implementation of HatchTech fumigation rooms and HatchTech’s Heat Disinfection program.
HatchTech and Viscon have designed and installed many large turn key incubation plants together, including this major project. The automation will process 11,520 setter trays per day in the egg setting area; in only 8 hours the transfer machine will process the total volume with a capacity of 150,000 eggs/hour; and with a chick separator and chick counting of 120,000 chicks/hour the chick processing will usually be finished within a normal 8 hour working day.

HatchBrood
After 7 years of R&D and intensive commercial testing, HatchTech proudly introduces its revolutionary product: HatchBrood. A real life version of HatchBrood will be introduced during the VIV Europe, 20-22 April 2010, Utrecht, the Netherlands, after which it will be commercially available for the industry.
Crucial factors during the brooding period
The first days of a chick’s life (brooding period), a chick is not able to regulate its own body temperature. Practical experience learns that controlling broiler house variables, such as air temperatures, floor temperatures, air velocity and humidity levels is difficult. Not controlling these variables results in delayed start-ups of chicks, uncertainty of future growth curves and lower uniformity.
The concept
HatchBrood is a revolutionary system that controls the crucial variables during the brooding period.
After hatch, d.o.c´s are placed in the HatchBrood system. Here, chicks have access to fresh water, air and feed. The HatchBrood system guarantees controlled air temperature and air velocity, which assures optimum chick body temperatures throughout the complete system. The chicks will start eating and drinking directly after placement. After 4 days they are transported to the farm for the remaining of their production cycle.

Fully controlled environment by HatchTech´s patented radiators
HatchBrood: Ultimate brooding control
HatchBrood fully controls the crucial brooding variables: it assures that each chicken can express its full growth potential. This, resulting in better FCR’s and improved overall uniformity at the end of the growth period.
HatchBrood, part of the HatchTech Group
In 1995, HatchTech introduced the patented concept of perforated radiators in incubation technology: the laminar airflow resulted in optimum and uniform chick quality. HatchTech successfully applied this concept to One-O-Fours´ HatchTraveller, a transport systems for d.o.c´s, that secures chick quality during transport, also during extreme circumstance. Now, the successful HatchTech concept is applied to HatchBrood, a systems that controls the crucial variables during the brooding period, which results in better FCR’s and improved overall uniformity.
